Bespoke Interior Joinery & Oak Staircase Details

This project brought together a series of bespoke carpentry solutions, designed to make the most of the existing character of the home while improving functionality and everyday living.

A key feature was a handcrafted secret bookcase door, designed to seamlessly connect two rooms while adding hidden storage and a unique design element. Constructed from birch plywood and finished with a tulip trim face frame, the door was built using heavy-duty hinges to provide strength and longevity. The client will add the final coat of paint and fill the shelves with books, completing the transformation of this clever feature.

Within the granite-walled office, the aim was to create a practical and considered workspace without compromising the character of the room. A bespoke built-in desk and cupboard were designed and built to maximise every available inch, crafted from Idigbo and birch plywood for a clean, durable finish.

The original solid oak staircase presented another opportunity to combine safety with thoughtful design. With no existing balustrade, the clients wanted to introduce a solution suitable for family life while maintaining the open, light feel of the space. A custom oak vertical balustrade and matching oak and toughened glass baby gate were designed to complement the staircase and blend naturally with the existing interiors.

Each element of this project was designed around the client’s needs, combining practical solutions with carefully considered materials and craftsmanship.
